Holds a Local Launch Masters Certificate and has been commercial fishing prominently around the Ahipara/Tauroa coastline for the past 32yrs. Patau has often fished between Whangapē to the South, along the length of Ninety Mile beach North to Cape Reinga on the West coast and also off the Rangaunu Harbour to Cape Karikari and Northward to Cape Reinga on the East coast. Patau's father (the late Kennedy Tepania) would often talk about his time and experiences on the water and of the historical kōrero and knowledge which was passed down to him by his grandmother Morehu Pene Ārano, who also fished aboard the community waka of that time. She spoke of the reefs at Ahipara as renowned fishing areas that have sustained and fed the people who inhabit this coastline, for generations.

Maureen is an expert in Operational Management, HR, finance and is very skilled at coaching and mentoring others. She loves cooking, crocheting, knitting, walking her dog, camping and loves being Nanny to the masses of grandchildren.

Baz is the owner of Mahi Marine which provides expert advisory professional services along with sourcing and importing high-quality specialist marine equipment. Baz is currently studying for an MBA.
Suzie has worked in the enterprise space for a number of years and has a passion to help support Māori & Social Enterprises within Te Hiku. Suzie has also worked in the research space and is very excited to lead the R & D arm for the organisation and will also oversee the marketing and brand reputation for Māui Inc. She has been an active and participating Trustee for two whenua Māori Trusts and her marae, Roma ki Ahipara, for many years. Tui comes from a very talented whānau of ringatoi (artists) and is a practising artist herself (weaving/tukutuku) who has recently obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Māori Visual Arts, Massey University and a Bachelor of Māori Art (raranga/weaving) TeMaunga Kura Toi, NorthTech.
